The First Few Days...

Hey all!!

So my journey with PiYo started on MONDAY and I am actually pretty excited about what this program will bring. First, let’s back up. For the past six months or so my love for running has been slowly increasing and I even completed my very first ½ marathon on Sunday! Can I just tell you how amazing it felt to have an official time and just simply running that far!! I never in a MILLION years thought that I’d ever have the stamina or drive to participate in one. It’s so funny because I started with a simple 25-minute workout program that showed me how much is possible if you just put your mind to it!

Okay, back to PiYo- I was so hesitate to commit to the full 60 day program. I am so used to doing hard core workouts that the idea of PiYo, a yoga and pilates inspired workout, made me feel like it wouldn’t give me enough. I ended up decided to give it a shot because of my running schedule. I needed something easy on my knees but would give me the stretch I desperately need post-runs!

Before Pics!!
Before Pics!!
The first two workouts were pretty short and I felt great after them. The workouts were about 20 minutes so I didn’t feel like I was wasting time or wanting to quit because I knew it was so short. I feel like these two workouts are gearing us up for what’s to come. It starts of slower but picks up speed which I know will be the case for the others!

Define: Upper was the first one I did. I skipped the Align video because I have done these workouts before but anyone who is just starting out should more certainly do the Align video! Its helpful :). Anyways, Define Upper gave me a great starting point to learn how to do triceps pushups which is something Chalene, the creator, uses a lot. Once I get the correct form down I think I’ll love them! In this video you focus mainly on your arms and abs like you would expect but the moves are different than other workouts I’ve done.
My little joining in on the PiYo fun!!! Even with kids around this workout is SO doable!

The second workout I did was Define: Lower. This one focuses on your legs and BALANCE!! Oh that balance can kill me sometimes but I am excited to see how it will strengthen my ankles and improving my running! The moves consisted of warm up squats, warrior, half-moon and down dog! All of those names will make sense once you try it!! Again, this workout was short and sweet but delivers a killer workout!!

Today will be Sweat which follows my 10K this morning!! This workout is a much longer but still doesn’t reach over 35 minutes!! YAY for short but effective workouts ;)

Okay, that’s all for now--

DEFINE Yourself Challenge

Are you READY to take the DEFINE Yourself Challenge?!

A little about me- I started working out daily about 2 years ago and it forever changed the way I feel about myself. I went from being tired, rundown, and depressed about how I looked and felt to having energy, confidence, and happiness about the progress I have made.

Am I perfect? HECK NO!!

I slip up all the time but the one thing that keeps me on track and getting back on track are the groups that I have been a part of since the beginning. Those groups gave me support, accountability, motivation and so many tips and recipes so I could succeed no matter what my excuse was. The idea of not having to "diet" or waste hours and hours at a gym was perfect for me. After all, I am a busy mom of three so getting the most out of my alone time was absolutely necessary!!

I loved these challenge groups so much that I decided that I would pay that opportunity forward to other moms and women like me who needed help but couldn't spend of ton of time getting healthy and fit.

The group starting on May 2nd will encompass all that I talked about above PLUS give you an option between TWO full meal plan to choose from. Both plans come with a week long calendar, grocery lists, and the recipes to go along with it. The meal plans are designed to give you the best results and are modeled after Beachbody's nutrition plan that was created by professionals!!

You may be thinking okay great-- what is the fitness program like?
PiYo is a no weights, no jumping, hardcore workout that is a fusion of pilates and yoga. The program features moves that are at an amped-up pace, for serious fat-burning cardio, strengthening, and lengthening- ALL IN ONE!!

Its perfect for anyone who wants to burn fat and get intensely toned fast- without high-impact pounding or complex choreography. Every workout has a modifier, so you can start at the level that is right for you and then move up as you go through the program.

Something I LOVE about this workout is that you need VERY LITTLE to NO equipment and the workouts are an average of only 30 MINUTES long!! A yoga mat (if you don't have carpet), a towel, water and enough space to be able to step in each direction. THAT'S IT!

Why did I feel like this was the right program for me?
For the past three months I have been training for a half marathon. I run three times per week and working out with various other Beachbody fitness programs. I LOVE fast paced, high intensity weight lifting and cardio BUT I found it extremely hard to follow those programs with my running schedule. Not to mention, it was taking a toll on my knees. I noticed that by not being consistent with one program, my nutrition suffered and I felt off track with my health. Since I've started training for the half I've gain about 8 pounds. Ouch, that totally hurts to admit. So running has not helped me to get toned OR maintain my weight. I needed something that would allow me to still run and help me build my strength, and abs, I want abs :) , while being low impact. Another piece that makes PiYo perfect for me is that the stretching aspect to the moves! Running definitely comes with its challenges and staying stretched is definitely one!

In the end,  PiYo is PERFECT for me but I also know its an amazing program for others who aren't runners as well.

As you can see-- PiYo is a sure fire way to lose weight, build strength and TONE all while doing low impact moves in the comfort of your own home with no equipment!

**TRANSFORMATION THURSDAY**

Hmm WHAT!?

My 73 year old grandmother can do burpees!?

Yep, you read that correctly. I am so proud of my Grandmother for staying as active as she does!

When I first joined Beachbody, I never really imagined that she would want in but I was wrong!

About a year ago she started drinking Shakeology because she saw the value. It even allowed her to save money because it had many of the suppliments she was already taking. Once she started, she got her husband hooked and now both of them enjoy a shake every day! A little while later she started using the 21 Day Fix portion controlled containers and workouts. She loved them because she didn't have to go to the gym OR have any equipment. Now she has added PiYo into her workout route and is loving the change between the two programs! She has been consistently kicking butt and obviously its paid off BIG TIME!!!

So if my 73 year old grandmother can do it- SO CAN YOU!!

What are you waiting for!? I have 3 spots open in my Post Thanksgiving Holiday Hustle group! Let's get you started on feeling healthy and happy for the New Year!
